A huge congratulations to Velveeta Mason Winter on being named 2018 SaWUSA Guest Traveler of the Year!
Velveeta is from Pasadena, CA. She is the mom of Madison Gibson, a Softball athlete who just traveled with SaWUSA on our 2018 Europe Lowlands Softball Tour. Velveeta and Madison also traveled with SaWUSA in 2017 competing in the Apeldoorn Softball Series.
We are especially thankful to Velveeta for going above and beyond to help our staff chaperone some of the athletes at our departure airport and during the first day as airline cancellations had our coach and a few players miss their outbound flight. Having traveled with us before Velveeta knew the drill, and helped keep athletes safe and comfortable while traveling abroad, showing a great passion and commitment to the well-being of all our STUDENTathletes.
The 4th Annual Guest Traveler of the Year award is our highest honor given to our guests. You can read more about it below…
About the SaWUSA Guest Traveler of the Year
This ‘Trip Mom’ (or Dad) makes the trip better for all travelers. They are great at ‘going with the flow’ and handling the ups and downs of International group travel. During the trip they help the SaWUSA staff care for each traveler by going above and beyond to assist other travelers, especially those traveling without parents. Most importantly, they make the trip more enjoyable just by being along for the ride.

We’d like to mention a few other guests that were up for the honor. It was a tough decision, so we were only able to pick one. But all of these guests were very deserving.
– Jen Winters was a great help to our athletes on the Barbados trip, helping kids traveling alone with late night pizza orders and making everyone feel comfortable.
– Susan Thornton was a great help to our athletes on the Euro Basketball Cup trip, helping kids traveling alone with money exchange, late night food runs, and just being a very patriotic ambassador of the USA.
